Title Effect of radiofrequency catheter ablation on quality of life in patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia

Abstract The work was initiated to study quality of life (QoL) parameters in patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) before and after radiofrequency catheter ablation procedure (RFA). As analysis of data obtained by means of the SF-36 health survey shows, AVNRT causes reduction in quality of life involving parameters of both physical (38.6%) and emotional (24.8%) health component.  Radiofrequency ablation used as a therapy of choice for AVNRT of “slow-fast” type was found efficient in 93.0% of cases. Significant improvement in parameters of physical (20.8%) and emotional (15.8%) quality of life components was registered in 3 months after RFA of slow AV-nodal  pathway of conduction; in 6 months no differences between the parameters and similar characteristics found in the controls were observed.
